Wuhan in China was locked out on 23th January because of the coronavirus, and I wrote this article in Japanese on 3rd Feburary.

The scenery in the city changed

The Chinese New Year(Luna Year) was 25th January this year. Many people here in China go back to home and many shops and restaurants close about 2 weeks, but this year…

Many shops and restaurants don’t open 1 more week

Usually, a lot of restaurants start opening from Feburary, but they still close… It is said they open 7~10days later…or they might open later and later… No one knows it… They gym I usually go 3 time a week was supposed to open 1st Feburary, but they would open on 10th(maybe).This is my favorite restaurant in my neighbor

Many people wear masks

I think that over 90% here in Chengdu wear masks now. Some people alrady wore masks before the Wuhan lockout, but the rate has increased rapidly after Wuhan lockout.

Now, I don’t go to crowed places because I don’t want to get infected coroavirus, but only one day after Wuhan lockout, I went to the main area of Chengdu to confirm what is happening in Chengdu now. I went to 春熙路(Chunxilu) on 27th January.

A lot of New Year’s events were cancelled

It seemed that a lot of New Year’s events were cancelled in China. It is same in Chengdu. It was my first Chinese New Year in China, and I was so excited to experience it, but I could not enjoy it because of the fuxxing coronavirus.

However, at the same time, I know many people prepared or practiced a lot for the Chinese New Year, and the events were cancelled, so comparing to their disappointment, my disappointment is very small.

Staying at home whole day

Basically, I stay at home whole day and do ” Bloging, Chinese study, Watching anime, Researching many things, Cooking, Online chat”, I keep doing these things everydays.

This life keeps going almost 2 weeks so far.

Yes, it is so hard, but I made this decision to stay China by myself, so I don’t regret at all.

Demerit

 I can not see my friends

This is really hard because I really like to talk with people. Whenever I hang around my neighbor, I have chance to talk with security guy of my apartment, and I have chance to talk with shop staff, but my mandarin is still not good enough for conversation. My French roommate is in France during the Chines New Year, so I don’t talk with my friends face to face for 1 and half weeks.

 I can not go to crowed places

I can not play around in the city. It is so risky to go crowed places.

 Many shops and restaurants don’t open

As I already told in this article before, many shops and restaurants don’t open because of Chinese New Year, and the still don’t open because of coronavirus. They  postponed their opening for 7~10 days.

 I have to wash my hands properly and gargle whenever I come back from outside

To be honest, it is getting hassle…I do this life about two weeks…Howevery, I have to do it because I don’t want to get infected from coronavirus.

 I am so worried about my body condition when I don’t feel well even a little bit

To be honest, it is very scary to get infected from coronavirus. I saw few videos that people suddenly fall down because of coronavirus. They might be fake videos, but no one know. My roommate is in France, so…

No one could not find me if I fall down suddenly. 

Thinking about it, it is very scary.

The air in Chengdu in winter is not good, so sometimes I cough a little bit. Even it is not sick, I am worried about my body condtion.

Merit

 I can focus on whatever I want to do at home

I do believe that there are a lot of chance under the difficulty. Now, I can focus on blogging and learning mandarin. Most of my friends here went back to their parents’ house or just stay home like me. They also can not go out because of the coronavirus. So I don’t have much choice to do something. That is why I can do a lot of things at home efficiently.

 I can save money

Most of the shops and restaurant close, and also, I can not play around ousside. It means automatically, I can save money. Last month I could not go out at all last 1 week, and I just spend moeny…

I just spent about US$275 last month

It is only for eating and drinking, and rent(including utility charges, internet, management fee of the building). It does not include expenses for the electric appliances, stationery, etc.

 Take care of the health more than usual

I usually eat veggies when I cook by myself becaue veggies are so cheap in China, but after I heard that there is less chance to die from coronavirus for health people, I started to more focus on eating veggies in daily life.

Why I did not go back to Japan and stayed in China

There are so many reasons I keep staying in China

I wanted to fight against coronavirus with my friends in China

Now, I have a lot of friends in Chia, and most of them live here. Some people can not go out from China now. I can go back to Japan anytime now, but I really feel that I would regret if I go back to Japan now. I just wanted to choose to fight against coronavirus with my friends here. I thought that it is the choice I would not regret.

The mortality is very low

Infection rate of the coronavirus is very high, but the mortality is very low. and some people started to recover from coronavirus.

3: The infection rate is high, but the rate is still not so high for the population of China.

I check the numbers about the coronavirus almost everyday, and I judged it by myself objectively. Sure, I think that the actual number of people who got infected from coronavirus and died are higher, but still I decided to stay here in China. Even if I am in Wuhan, I could choose to stay in Wuhan.

To be honest, I always doubt the information from the media. Especially, I don’t trust Japanese media. I usually don’t trust 80% of what they say. The things what I trust the most are…

The things I see or experience by myself

These are the most trustworthy information for me. That is the reason I came to China. I am not a puppet of the western and Japanese media. Sure, I doubt the information from China as well, but I want to judge the information by myself and want to get more trustworthy information.

I want to tell the real information

If I leave China, and try to get information in Japan or other countries, I just need to get information from someone. I am not sure if it is trustworthy or not. Howevery, I can trust the information I see or experience by myself. I don’t care even other people don’t trust the information I see or experience, I just want to get the real information, not fake information. That is one of the reason I stayed in China.

I don’t want coronavirus to affect for my plan

I do love the life here in Chengdu. People in Chengdu are so kind even they notice I am Japanese. No matter they are male, female, young or old, they are so kind to me. Sure, few people are so rude, but majority of the people here are so kind to me even I still could not talk in mandarin. I am super satisfied with the life here, so I don’t want to leave Chengdu. If I go back to Japan now, there is a slight chance I could not come back to China. I am sure that I would regret if it would happen.

Sure, I really feel sorry to my parents and my friends because they are worried about me. But…
