Last time, I wrote about an article about “Why we started this event” and ” The motivation I keep doing this event”, and this time I will continue to write about the motivation I keep doing this event.
We are friends no matter the person has any nationalities, races or religions
This time, I will write from “3”.
This is a multicultural city, Sydney, but….
” I really like this picture because people from other races eat dinner together on the same table. It was really fun^^/”
I sometimes think that a lot of people who go study abroad hang around with same people from same nationality and are losing a lot of opportunities to have new experience. It happens not only for Japanese, but also happen to people from other countries. This is Sydney, and it is a multicultural city, so it must be so easy to meet a lot of people from other countries.
I have been having this kind of idea since when I was in Canada. Sure, it is so easy to communicate with people from same county. Sometimes, it is necessary to talk with people from same country and it is better to get some information from them. It is necessary to relax sometimes to talk with them. However… I think if you talk with people from same country too much, you lose a lot of good experiences to study abroad.
I really hope that ” I want the world to get smaller and smaller” and understand each other no matter they are from, no matter which country, area, race, religion, gender they are from.
I feel that language school is not enough to learn
I used to go to a language school in Canada, and thought that when my English level reached to upper-intermediate level, the study in language school was not much helpful for my English study( I think that it is better to study for tests at school if your English level reaches to a specific level). The reasons I thought like this are
1 : Teachers are usually speak English slowly
2 : All of the students are English learners as well
3 : The classmates are almost same English level.
Thinking about it, it is very difficult to improve English quickly in this environment, so if you want to improve English, it is better to make friends with students whose English level are much higher than you, or make friends with someone from outside of school.
The position of our English events
Language school⇒ Muscle training
Our events ⇒ Practice game
Practical English ⇒ Please train in your daily life
To be honest, the English level of our events is very high because many native English speakers or native English level speakers also join us. And people who have high motivation to learn English regularly join our events. So automatically, a lot of regular members who want to learn English can improve their English at the end. ” No pain, No gain”
What I can do for Japan as a Japanese
Our events are for everyone, not only for Japanese, and I want the world to be smaller and smaller through the events, but sure I sometimes feel what I can for Japanese as a Japanese.
I often say that no one can stop globalization. There are a lot of smart people in the world, and we need to corporate or compete with no boarder. To be honest, Japanese economy would get worse and worse and Japan would be out of date from globalization. As a Japanese, it is really painful just to see it, so through our events, if some Japanese people notice the wave of globalization and study more, I am happy with it.
And also, I want more people to be interested in Japan including people who are not interested in Japan. I make a lot of friends from other countries, and get interested in many countries. I learnt a lot of things from people from other countries. So, I hope same things happen to other people as well and I want many people to get to understand each other.
Thank you very much for supporting us
I want to appreciate people who support our events
This is very important thing. If it is only Paul and me, it was very difficult to make our events successful. Our events have been supported by many people. I want to say thank you for everyone, especially, for Paul, other organisers and regular members. Some people went back to their countries already, or get busy and can not come to our events, but including for all of them, I want to say thank you.
I am the one who enjoys the event and learn a lot of things from many people
It is very interesting to achieve something with many people from other countries. I will leave Australia soon and go to China to learn mandarin. But I hope we could keep making safe and enjoyable events. Thank you very much for everyone^^/
